Children can be really cruel about exclusion.
>Session 1, All members
I am working with children who are 5 and now they are in their own world, you sometimes can’t understand. They don’t see me as the professor, sometimes they cal me maitress, but we go there and eat and we pass some time together. There are old ladies who do this, close to retirement, that was how it was before. This is existing for sometime. It was the rich ladies who wanted to do this at the turn of the century for the poor, and now it is the State. The kids were saying they didn’t want to have the old ladies, as they were too strict.I am working with the children during the lunch. As inside the school is no restaurant, I take them to their lunch place. One time we were walking and she passed by. Then one of the children, a girl told me, “This is a witch, I hate her.. because she is looking in the garbage. Sometimes she rings the doorbell and asks if she can look the trash.”
In Zurich you can not put trash in the street before they come. In Geneva it isn’t like that. You have to buy the trash bags which are expensive. If you put it in another bag they don’t take it. There are official people especially for looking inside the trash and finding whose it is to return it and charge them.
In Geneva as a poor person, if you are hungry you can always eat, you can go at noon to a (…) and at night to (…. )You don’t need to look in the trash. It is possible this woman thinks ‘a society of consumers is ugly, I can live with the trash of other persons’. So maybe it is really in her beliefs, it is good to look in the trash and find something to use… that people throw too much.
I saw once she attacking this lady, spitting and scratching as she said she was a bourgeoise, she had makeup and had a certain type of clothing. She was against “Espace du bourgeois, you think you are superior!” I did not see how it was beginning, I just arrived as the two people were yelling. The other woman was yelling “You have to lock her up in the insane asylum!”
I didn’t think in Geneva it would be possible to see the same person over and over.
When I was living in Shaffhausen a little town of 35000 inhabitants, there were also two people like this woman. When I was young there was a space for youths to go, a disco. In this Youth center they would also show up. One of these people who was always there, was always saying that he just wants “to protect you”.
The other one is a bit schizophrenic because he lives in so many worlds it isn’t possible. He says if you cook the meal, you destroy it, so everything should be raw… all the cooks should be put in prison as well as doctors who give you poisons.
The first time I saw him, I was wearing a pair of pants in all colors, and he spoke of chromatery, and he explained he was a chemist. He had created his own nation which is just him. He is president, secretary, everything. He makes flyers and posters saying that people should write to the UN and recognize his own state, which is called “Down with the Fascist State”. His own party is called Clean up party. He ran for mayor for Shaffhausen. Once he was put in the asylum because he hit the (Town Secretary). He always lived in his bus. He once asked me if I wanted to help him carrying two buckets of sand. They were from his cellar, that he was digging a tunnel in to get to the Vatican, so that the Pope will give a private meeting.
